Adventures in Nanchang China!

China Group Colour.jpg

We're back from China (has it already been a month now?!) and what an adventure we went on with the Vancouver Police Pipe Band!! 8 Shot of Scotch Vancouver dancers joined 28 members of the pipe band on this 10 day trip to perform at the 5th China Nanchang International Military Tattoo in September 2017!

We were kept extremely busy, performing in two stadium shows, three community shows, as well as participating in a parade, the opening and closing ceremonies. Our choreography to "Jasmine Flower" a very popular Chinese folk tune was particularly well received everywhere we went. We were extremely proud to represent Canada and Scottish culture amongst a gathering of twelve elite military bands and performing groups from across the globe. We are thrilled to have had this opportunity with the Vancouver Police Pipe Band and are already scheming up more projects, dances and adventures with them to come! A heartfelt thank you to all of our supporters, family and friends that helped make this trip possilbe!

For a glimpse of what we experienced and did, check out our PHOTOS and PERFORMANCE VIDEO! (The Jasmine Flower choreography starts at 3:30)

Extra Extra! We're travelling to China!!

Last January we danced in Chinatown, and we are thrilled to announce that next September we will dance in China!! We are so excited to travel with the Vancouver Police Pipe Band to perform at the 5th Annual China Nanchang International Military Tattoo! This is an incredible opportunity for us to both choreograph and perform at an event that has seen upwards of 20 international military bands annually.

Nanchang is the capital of Jiangxi province and has a 2200-year old history. What an amazing place to dance!!

8 Shot of Scotch Vancouver dancers will be packing their bags, kilts and ghillies in September and we couldn't be happier than to share this adventure with the Vancouver Police Pipe Band - huge thank you to them for inviting us to come along on this trip! As the world’s oldest, continuous serving police pipe band and official band of the City of Vancouver, with a regional population in excess of 2.5 million people, they are continually called upon to play for charity and community events, visiting royalty, heads of state and celebrities.

We are already hard at work collaborating with the band to create a spectacular new set and choreography to showcase at this world-class event but we need some help to get our dancers to this stage. If you are able, please consider supporting our GoFundMe campaign to help us cover the travel and visa costs of all dancers. Thank you always for your support and for helping us spread our love for Scottish dance, culture and exchange across the globe!
