It’s Highland Games Season!
Highland games combine sport, fun and culture in a uniquely Scottish style and take place every weekend in the summer. From May to September you can get in on the action all across the northern hemisphere, with dozens of games being held across the US and games as far away as Norway, Germany and Brazil.
Scotland is home to the Highland Games of course with over 80 taking place across the country. The Cowal Highland Gathering is the most famous of them all in the dancing world as they host the Scottish Official Board of Highland Dancing World Championships each year.
Dancers give dazzling displays of fancy footwork in the traditional Highland dances, competing for the most prestigious titles. The Cowal Highland Gathering is renowned for the quality of its Highland dancing, drawing in the best performers from around the globe as they compete to be world champion. The good news is that you don’t even need to travel to catch all the splendour, events will be streamed live August 23rd - 25th.
If you prefer to catch the action live, come and see Shot of Scotch at the Long Island Scottish Festival and Highland Games in Westbury, New York on August 25th. New York’s premier dancers will be performing, teaching and conducting a raffle with exciting prizes.
